The mountain post

A storm has cut off eighteen mountain post stations. Your mail rover carries a sliding brass ballast: move it forward to lower the nose, or backward to lift it. Read the slopes, cross broken bridges and park at the glowing post lantern.

Ballast Run — A mountain mail run with a movable center of gravity

How to play

  1. Hold the accelerator to build momentum; reverse first brakes a moving rover.
  2. Every route has a ballast bridge. Shift rear before the gap, then front past the lip to settle the rover.
  3. Reach the lantern on both wheels and slow down to complete a delivery.

Controls

Hold → / D to drive, ← / A to brake. Space shifts the ballast. Slow down at the lantern.

On the road

  • 18 routes grow from about 30 seconds to 3 minutes, combining ridges, broken bridges, washboards and wet stone.
  • Best delivery times and unlocked routes stay in this browser.

Questions

Do I need to beat a timer?

No. The clock records your best delivery; taking your time never fails a route.

What happens after a crash?

Retry immediately. The current route restarts, while unlocked routes and best times remain.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. Hold the two pedals and tap the ballast button. Music and effects have separate volume controls.

Is this Drive Mad?

No. Ballast Run has its own vehicle, artwork, routes and movable-ballast mechanic.

Where is progress saved?

Only in this browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes unlocked routes, times and audio preferences.

How do I deliver?

Slow to below 20 km/h beside the lantern with the rover upright and wheels touching the road. If you overshoot, reverse back.
